The iOS 27 product page header and search results images

Sizes, shapes and layout for the App Store's iOS 27 product page header and search results images, including how much an iPhone shows.

From iOS and iPadOS 27, an app's App Store listing can carry two marketing images on top of its screenshots: a header across the top of the product page, and an image shown in search results in place of the screenshots. They're uploaded in App Store Connect like screenshots.

Sizes

ImageShapePixelsWhere it shows
Product page header21:93,840 × 1,646Across the top of the product page.
Search results image3:23,840 × 2,560In place of screenshots in search results.
Universal image16:95,244 × 2,950Cropped by App Store Connect to serve as both.

The universal image is the shortcut: one 16:9 picture that App Store Connect crops into a 21:9 header and a 3:2 search results image. It saves designing two, at the cost of control over what each crop keeps.

How much an iPhone shows

On an iPhone, the product page doesn't show the header at 21:9. The slot is closer to 3:2, so the image is cut at both sides: of a 21:9 header, roughly the middle two-thirds is visible. The back and share buttons also sit over its top corners, and the status bar runs across the top.

A universal image fares worse, because it's cropped twice: first to the header's shape, then again at the sides on iPhone. Text that runs close to either edge is the first thing to go.

Laying out the header

  • Make the header and the search results image separately. Each place has its own shape, and one image can't sit well in both.
  • Work from the centre. Keep the title and the device inside the middle two-thirds of the header's width.
  • Keep the top corners clear. Nothing important under the back and share buttons.
  • Use a short title. One line, no subtitle. A device below it can run off the bottom edge.
  • Check it on a phone. Look at the live page on an iPhone as well as on a Mac or iPad.

The search results image

The search results image replaces your screenshots in search results, where people decide whether to tap. Treat it like the first three screenshots together: one clear benefit, the app's best screen and a title large enough to read at a small size.

Making them in Showpiece

Showpiece designs the header, search results and universal images alongside your screenshots, from the same design and captions, with guides showing where Apple crops each one. They export with the rest of the set and upload to App Store Connect with it.
